Starting from the Hinteralfeld farmhouse inn, there is a short walk of about an hour between the pastures, which is accessible to the general public. The farmhouse is nestled in the former glacial cirque between Lake Alfed and the Ballon d'Alsace at an altitude of 710 m above sea level.
