B&B Au pied du Grand Ballon is located between the village of Goldbach-Altenbach and the well-known Col Amic, only a few hundred metres from the GR5. Walking down from the Grand Ballon towards Thann, you pass practically in front of it. So it is only a short detour.

Yes. GR5 hikers can book for a single night as well. The availability calendar on this page shows you straight away which rooms are free.

No. You stay in a small-scale B&B with a private room, a comfortable bed and breakfast. It is meant for hikers who value comfort, quiet and personal hospitality after their stage.

Yes, breakfast is included with your stay. You set off again rested.

Yes. For hikers staying the night we offer a table d’hôtes at €29 per person. It consists of freshly made flammekuchen as much as you like, an ice cream dessert and unlimited table water.

Yes. The flammekuchen is topped fresh and can also be prepared vegetarian. Let us know your preference on arrival. If you have an allergy or a special diet, please contact us beforehand so we can tell you what is possible.

Yes. Other drinks are available and are charged separately.

Yes. For €16 we prepare a complete, fresh packed lunch for the next day. It consists of two filled rolls, a boiled egg, yoghurt, a cereal bar, pasta salad with chicken, a piece of fruit and a drink of your choice. You receive it after breakfast, just before you set off again. Here too we can take a vegetarian preference into account.

Yes. Our washing and drying service costs €12. You hand in your laundry after you arrive. We take care of it during the evening and leave the clean, dry laundry at your room before the night.

That is sometimes possible from €12, depending on the distance and our availability. We are not a regular taxi service. A transfer is therefore only possible after prior arrangement and confirmation.

It is wise to request the meal, the packed lunch and any transfer in advance, so that we can prepare everything in time. Practical preferences for the flammekuchen and the packed lunch can be discussed on the spot.

Let us know as soon as possible that you are delayed, preferably via WhatsApp. Especially if you have also booked a meal, it is important that we know your expected arrival time.

That is possible if there is enough availability. Check the nights you want in the calendar, or contact us if you would like to plan a rest day during your GR5 trek.
