The Grand Ballon is the highest mountain in the Vosges, standing at 1424 meters, a medium-high mountain range in northeastern France.
Stay and enjoy at the foot of the Grand Ballon
B&B Au pied du Grand Ballon is located at an altitude of over 800 meters in Goldbach-Altenbach, on the border of the Vosges and Alsace in France. It is an ideal starting point for conquering the mountains by bike or for taking beautiful walks with stunning views. You can also enjoy the picturesque villages among the many vineyards found in Alsace along the famous wine route.
The four different rooms in my B&B offer a comfortable stay for 2, 4, or 6 persons. In the morning, you can enjoy a varied breakfast buffet. During the warmer season, this can also be enjoyed on the large balcony terrace with a lovely view.
Make beautiful memories!
You are welcome and feel at home.

What my guests write
See all reviewsBeautiful place, good beds, and excellent service. Very attentive and good communication with the host.
A superb location (right at the foot of the Grand Ballon) surrounded by nature and in the shade, perfect for enjoying the mountains. We received a very warm welcome from our host, and the B&B is very pleasant (good, hearty breakfast, terrace, two lovely donkeys, etc.). We highly recommend it!
We were attending a wedding very close to the BB and unfortunately only spent one night there. We would have gladly stayed longer, as everything was perfect: the location, the magnificent, clean room, and the incredibly comfortable bed we never wanted to get out of. The peace and quiet was very restful and rejuvenating, the breakfast was excellent, and the host was incredibly kind, attentive, and responsive. It's a place that makes you want to return.
A big thank you to Michel.
A person who deserves great respect, thank you!
The surroundings are beautiful. The B&B itself is amazing. The owner is very hospitable. We had a room on the ground floor. Due to the thick walls and the layout of the rooms, they are naturally cooled, which is lovely during the summer months. The large veranda offers a great view and has various seating areas. All in all, we had a wonderful time at the B&B.
We had a wonderful stay at this B&B. The hospitality was excellent, and the location, rooms, and breakfast were superb. There is plenty to do in the area. You can go hiking, cycling, motorcycling, or visit villages or wine regions. Michel also gives many good tips about the surroundings. Highly recommended!
Drove around Alsace for a week and had a two-night stopover at this B&B halfway through; in short, a super experience. They were two very special days; the best part was that you really felt at home there. Super friendly host who is likeable and very interested. If you are looking for a place where things are actually even better organized than a hotel, this is definitely highly recommended! 🙂 And a perfect location to drive the Routes des Crêtes in a single day! And be sure to bring a packed lunch for this, more than enough! 🙂
Michel is a perfect host, just like his guesthouse: the welcome, the service, the upkeep of the rooms and grounds, the breakfast, the setting... Absolutely nothing to complain about.
My only regret is not staying longer!
A very nice B&B in a nice setting with a very warm, welcoming host who made us feel at home in the best way possible. The room was fresh and nice, and the homemade flammkuchen and breakfast were great. We also got good tips for our further journey. Thanks Michel!
We were passing through with our family and had a four-person room, which looked excellent. A lovely place to unwind after a long drive. We are already making plans for our next trip because it is also located in an incredibly beautiful region and Michel ensures that nothing is lacking. Besides being a good host, he was also an excellent cook. We had a delicious meal there 🤩.
What a beautiful location this B&B is in!
The host is super friendly and helpful.
A very friendly and helpful host. The room was newly renovated and spotless. We spent a few lovely days at the foot of the Grand Ballon.
